Getting Started with Sailday

Up and running in under 2 minutes. Here's how to set up your first cruise.

Download Sailday

Search "Sailday" on the App Store. It's completely free. Requires iOS 26.2 or later.

Create Your Account

Sign up with your email or use Sign in with Apple for a quick and secure login. Your data syncs across all your devices.

Add Your First Cruise

Tap the + button on the Countdowns tab. Enter your ship name, cruise line, departure port, and sail date. Your countdown starts immediately.

Meet Wade

Go to your Profile tab and enable Wade — your personal cruise duck mascot. Set your age group and how talkative you want him to be.

Add Widgets to Your Home Screen

Long press your iPhone home screen, tap +, search Sailday, and add the countdown or Wade widget to keep your cruise front and center.

Invite Your Crew

Tap the Travel Party button on your countdown card to get a 6 character join code. Share it with friends and family so everyone can count down together.

⚡ How to Add a Cruise

  • Tap the + button in the top right of the Countdowns tab
  • Enter your ship name and select your cruise line from the dropdown
  • Select your departure port — choose from popular ports or type a custom one
  • Pick your sail date using the date picker
  • Tap Save — your countdown starts instantly

  • When your countdown hits zero the whole app transforms
  • Full screen confetti explosion and fireworks animation

  • You can share a special sail day card to Instagram or iMessage

Pro tip: Swipe left and right on the countdown screen to switch between multiple cruises. Use the View All button to see all your trips at once.

Cruise specific packing lists that know what cruisers actually need — not just generic travel checklists.

  • Documents and ID — passport, boarding pass, travel insurance, credit cards
  • Cruise Essentials — magnetic hooks, lanyard, door magnets, over door organizer
  • Clothing and Accessories — formal night outfits, swimwear, comfortable shoes
  • Tech and Gadgets — power strip (no surge protector), portable charger, waterproof phone case
  • Toiletries — reef safe sunscreen, motion sickness meds, seasickness bands
  • Medicine and Health — prescriptions, first aid basics, hand sanitizer
  • Beach and Port Days — beach bag, snorkel gear, waterproof sandals

⚡ How It Works

  • Select which cruise the list is for using the cruise picker at the top
  • Choose warm or cold weather mode — the list adjusts accordingly
  • Tap any item or the whole row to check it off as packed
  • Tap the + button in any section to add your own custom items
  • Swipe left on any item to delete it
  • Tap Hide Packed to only see items you still need to pack
  • Each section shows a progress bar so you know how close you are

Wade says: Magnetic hooks are a game changer on cruise ships — the cabin walls are magnetic on most ships and you can hang bags, lanyards, and even decorations. Don't leave home without them!

Your digital boarding pass — store everything you always need to dig out of your documents.

📝 What You Can Store

  • Ship and Cabin — ship name, cabin number, deck number
  • Dining — dining room name, table number, dining time
  • Emergency and Safety — muster station, ship emergency number, medical center location
  • Onboard Credits and Packages — OBC amount, drink package, internet package, dining package
  • Activities Checklist — everything you want to do onboard from the FlowRider to karaoke

✏️ How to Edit

  • Tap the Edit button on any section to start editing
  • Fill in your details and tap Save
  • Data is saved per cruise so switching cruises loads the right info automatically
  • All fields are optional — fill in as much or as little as you want

✅ Activities Checklist

  • Five categories — Thrill, Entertainment, Dining Events, Relaxation, Port Activities
  • Pre-populated with popular activities like FlowRider, karaoke, spa day and shore excursions
  • Flag activities as Must Do, Want to Do, or Maybe
  • Add your own custom activities with the + button
  • Check off activities as you complete them during the cruise

Wade is your personal cruise duck mascot — a cheerful yellow duck in a sailor hat who keeps the excitement alive all the way to sail day.

🎛️ How to Enable Wade

  • Go to your Profile tab
  • Find the Wade section and toggle Meet Wade on
  • Complete the Meet Wade setup screen
  • Choose your age group — Kid, Teen, Young Adult, or Adult
  • Set his talkativeness — Chill, Normal, or Hyper
  • Toggle individual notification types on or off in Advanced Notifications

📬 Wade's Notifications

  • Countdown milestones — 30, 20, 10, 7, 3, and 1 day before sail date
  • Packing list reminders every few days if you haven't finished packing
  • Packing complete celebration when you check off everything
  • Sail day morning wake up at 8am on your departure day
  • Inactivity check if you haven't opened the app in a few days

🎭 Wade's Personality

  • Teen mode — hype, slang, gen z energy, caps and fire emojis
  • Adult mode — warm, friendly, calm and helpful
  • Kid mode — simple, sweet, excited with lots of emojis
  • Hyper talkativeness — maximum excitement across all ages
  • Chill talkativeness — short and low key messages

Fun fact: Wade has special sail day celebration animations and sends extra hype notifications when your countdown finally hits zero. He really loses it.

🐾 Duck Mode

The rubber duck hiding tradition is huge on cruise ships. Log every duck you hide and every duck you find.

🔓 How to Enable Duck Mode

  • Go to your Profile tab
  • Find the Duck Mode toggle and turn it on
  • A Ducks tab will appear in your tab bar with a duck icon

📝 Logging Ducks

  • Tap the + button in the Ducks tab to log a duck
  • Choose whether you hid it or found it
  • Enter the location on the ship where you hid or found it
  • Add optional notes and the date
  • The stat cards at the top show your total hidden and found counts
  • Tap Hidden or Found cards to filter the list

Wade's tip: Popular hiding spots include library shelves, under deck chairs, near the pool, and in the buffet area. Leave a little note with your hiding duck to make it more fun for whoever finds it!

👥 Travel Groups

Invite your family or friends to your cruise with a simple 6 character code. Count down and pack together.

🎟️ Creating a Group

  • Add a cruise in the Countdowns tab
  • Tap the Travel Party button on your countdown card
  • Your 6 character join code is generated automatically
  • Tap Invite via iMessage to send it to your travel companions
  • Or tap the copy button to share the code any other way

✅ Joining a Group

  • Tap the Join a Cruise button next to the + on the Countdowns tab
  • Enter the 6 character code your group leader shared with you
  • Submit a join request — the group leader must approve it
  • Once approved the cruise appears in your countdown screen automatically

👑 Group Leader Controls

  • Approve or decline join requests from the Travel Party tab
  • Remove members by tapping their name and selecting Remove
  • View everyone's packing progress in the Packing List tab under Group Packing
  • Delete the group at any time from the Travel Party tab

➕ How to Add Widgets

  • Long press your iPhone home screen until icons start to jiggle
  • Tap the + button in the top left corner
  • Search for Sailday in the widget gallery
  • Choose the widget size you want and tap Add Widget
  • Long press the countdown widget and tap Edit Widget to choose which cruise to display

Pro tip: The Wade widget changes scenes every few hours — beach, deck, pool, port day, sunset and stormy seas. Each scene has different background colors and quotes so it always feels fresh.

  • Tap the share button on your countdown screen
  • Select Share as Image
  • A premium 1080x1080 countdown card is generated with your cruise details

  • Includes your ship name, days remaining, sail date, and a Wade watermark

💬 Other Sharing Options

  • Share via iMessage — opens Messages with a pre-written countdown message
  • Share Link — generates a link that opens Sailday directly to your countdown
  • Copy to Clipboard — copies countdown text so you can paste it anywhere

Yes! Sailday is completely free to download on the App Store. All core features are included at no cost.
Sailday requires iOS 26.2 or later. Make sure your iPhone is updated before downloading.
Yes! You can add multiple cruises and swipe between them on the countdown screen. Each cruise has its own packing list, cabin hub, and activities checklist.
Tap the Join a Cruise button next to the + on the Countdowns tab. Enter the 6 character code your group leader shared with you and submit a request. The group leader will approve it and you'll see the cruise appear automatically.
Make sure Wade is enabled in your Profile tab. Tap the Meet Wade toggle and complete the setup. Wade will then appear throughout the app and start sending notifications.
Open the Sailday app first and make sure you have a cruise added. Then long press your widget and tap Edit Widget to select which cruise to display. If it still doesn't work try removing and re-adding the widget.
Yes! Sailday has offline support. Your cruise data is cached locally so you can view your countdown, packing list, and cabin hub even without internet. Changes will sync to the cloud when you reconnect.
Go to Profile, tap the gear icon to open Settings, and scroll to the bottom to find Delete Account. You'll be asked to type DELETE to confirm. This permanently removes all your data.
Go to Profile, tap Help, then tap Report a Bug or Contact Support. Your message goes directly to the developer. You can also email cruiseconnectsocial@gmail.com.
